Mission Partnership In SIERRA LEONE

In the last two decades, Sierra Leone has been ravaged by civil war. The devastation has been near complete with civilian casualties numbering in the tens of thousands and more than 2 million people displaced. Unspeakable atrocities have left Sierra Leone's people maimed, hungry, and heartsick.

In 2007, we were led to the small village of Tissana where the brave and hopeful Sierra Leone people struggle to rebuild their lives. Working with village leaders, our initial efforts have been rewarding and productive. Tissana now has a growing church, a school that serves 300 children, and a medical center that is staffed by two full-time nurses.

In November 2008, a team from Grace traveled to Tissana to continue the work that has begun there.  Grace volunteers served in the medical clinic, put a new roof on the church and school, worked with families who are starting micro-farms, and trained new pastors.
